The 3 B’s of Commitment
WHAT ARE YOU COMMITTED TO?
There are close to 100 million Church members and yet, why are we not making more of a moral and spiritual impact? Why is it, that on Sunday morning, hundreds of churches have empty pews? Why are so many churches having just a few at service on Sunday? Now God knows if you can’t be at Church for whatever the reason, (and He knows the reason). If you could be here and you’re not, (He knows that too)!
The Holy Bible is the inspired, inerrant (accurate) word of God, and yet, why is it that so few read it? If God is a prayer answering God, (and He is) and if He meant for us to ask, seek, and knock, then why is so little praying going on? If you and I believe there is a heaven & hell, why do we keep so quiet about the gospel?
If we believe that there is none other name under Heaven whereby we must be saved, then why are we not sharing the message of His saving grace? I’ll tell you why, there’s a lack of commitment!
Read Scripture: Ps 37: 1-5, Pr 3: 5-6, Pr 16: 3, Rom.12: 1-2, I Pet. 4:19.
The 3 B’s of Commitment
I. Be Committed to God
(John 3:16), “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (Mk. 12:30), “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength: this is the first commandment.” (Matt. 6:33), “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
A. Real commitment does not have an on and off switch.
B. Real commitment is not a Sunday thing, its 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with no vacations or off days. You are the same person on Monday through Saturday as you are on Sunday.
C. If we are really committed to God, It will show. Others will see the fruits of your commitment.
II. Be Committed to Family
A. No wonder that 50% of all marriages end in divorce.
1. Children see no commitment to family from their parents.
B. How long since you kissed your spouse and told them, “I love you?”
(Eph. 5:22, 25), 22)“Wives, submit yourselves unto your husbands, as unto the Lord. 25) Husbands love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church, and gave Himself for it.”
C. When was the last time you bought your spouse a gift for no reason?
1. Don’t you think it’s about time?
D. How about your mom or dad, your sister, your brother, or your children? (Deut. 5:16), “Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” Have you let them know how much they mean to you? Teach your family by your own example.
E. The Bible defines the way a family should be. (Col. 3:18-20), 18) Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Children,
obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
(a) A husband has no problem loving a submissive wife.
(b) A wife has no problem being submissive to a loving husband.
(c) Children will love and honor parents who love them and teach them
according to the bible.
III. Be Committed to your Church.
This consists of 4 Things.
A. Committed to Church Attendance. (Heb.10: 25), “not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
1. Does your family need to ask “are we going to church today??”
2. Sundayitus epidemic: (a) 1 sneeze and back to bed you go, but On Monday grab a hanky and go to work. Just to tired on Sunday night. When you get to busy to go to church you are too busy. Wednesday night too many things to do. God can take some things away, so you won’t have an excuse.
B. Committed to Church Growth. How many people did you talk to this week? How many did you talk to about Christ? How many friends did you invite this week? Didn’t have the Time - Not committed to Church growth!
C. Committed to Church needs. (Mal. 3: 8-10), 8 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me.
(1) Let me tell you a story using four typical Church Members. I’ll name them: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to do and everybody thought that somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it but none of them did it, so it didn’t get done. Somebody got angry because it was everybody’s job. Everybody thought for sure that somebody would do it, but nobody asked anybody. In the end the job wasn’t done, and everybody blamed somebody when nobody asked anybody. Trust God, and just do it. He is the one that gives the increase!
D. Committed to Soul winning. (Pr. 11:30), “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
and the one who is wise saves lives.” (Matt. 28:19), “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:” Some may say: I can’t talk to people about the Lord…but they have no problem talking about anything else. Some may say: I don’t know enough about the Bible.
Whose fault is that?
(II Tim. 2:15), “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth..”
(James 1: 5), “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
(Mt. 7: 8), “For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” It all boils down to–Commitment.

Till i See You By Hillsong United
Lyrics:
The greatest love that anyone could ever know
That overcame the cross and grave to find my soul
And 'til I see You face to face and grace amazing takes me home
I'll trust in You
With all I am I'll live to see Your kingdom come
And in my heart I pray You'd let Your will be done
And 'til I see You face to face and grace amazing takes me home
I'll trust in You
I will live to love You
I will live to bring You praise
I will live a child in awe of You
You are the voice that calls the universe to be
You are the whisper in my heart that speaks to me
And 'til I see You face to face and grace amazing takes me home
I'll trust in you
You alone are God of all
You alone are worthy Lord
And with all I am my soul will bless Your name

"IF I WERE GOD"
April and her friends often met at the ice cream shop after school to talk and hang out and have fun. Their parents didn’t mind because the ice cream shop is near the elementary school and they could pick them up there. Today they were all excited about the discussion they had in history class when the teacher was talking about the presidents of the country. After they had their lecture and video the teacher had a game called “If I were president” where everybody said what they would change if they got a chance to be president.
“Well that was a fun game all right.” April said as she slid into the booth at the ice cream shop after school. “But if I were president, I would spend all my time on stopping wars.”
“Not me.” Ginger interrupted. “In fact, I would need more power than just a president has to get what I want. I would have to be God. Yeah, that’s a better game. What would you do if you were God? I know what I would do. I would make sure there were never any more mosquitoes. Ewww…I hate those things.” She laughed.
“Well if I was God, I would get rid of all the governments and have one government run by me.” Susanna said staring off into space. “And if anyone didn’t obey, I would just wipe out their country. That would put an end to all the wars and that stuff.”
Just then, April’s little brother Stevie walked in which meant their mom had dropped him off and would be back shortly to take April and Stevie home. Stevie was seven years old. He sat down and listened to the game.
“I think if I were God, since I would have the power to do anything at all, I would first stop all the sickness and old age and bad storms and earthquakes so people all over the world wouldn’t suffer so much.” Added Kimberly who always had a soft heart for suffering people.
“Well I don’t know. It seems to me that if everyone was a believer, we wouldn’t have so much trouble with sin so maybe if I was God, I would just force everyone to be a believer and then there would only be one world religion.” April said daydreaming about how that would be.
“Don’t you think God would do that if he could, April?” Ginger said.
“But God is all powerful, I wonder why he puts up with lost people and just doesn’t wipe them off the face of the earth in one wave of His hand and end all the sin and killing and awful sins people do.” April responded knowing she was unsure of what she was talking about and trying to remember if the answers to these questions had been covered in Sunday school.
“Well my uncle was lost until he received Christ last month. If God had wiped all the lost people before that, he would have gone to hell but now he is going to heaven so I am glad God didn’t do that and maybe that is why he is waiting.” Ginger said emotionally because she loved her uncle and all of her family.
“Well if God had forced your uncle to get saved before he wiped out the rest, then he wouldn’t have gone to Hell.” Susanna added.
“I am glad God didn’t force me to get saved. When I gave my heart to him, I wanted to. If he forced us, it might be like when mom and dad force you to clean your room. You do it but you resent them for pushing you around. I don’t think God pushes people around.” Ginger said.
“Well he could if he wanted to.” April reminded everybody.
“You know what I think God would do if he was God?” Stevie suddenly interrupted and everybody laughed because of how he said that. “I think he wouldn’t be all bossy and make anything change but I think he would come down from heaven and become a human so he can save the lost people because he created them to be his family and I know mommy and daddy would do anything to save us if April or I were lost. They would even give their lives to save ours.”
Everybody stopped talking and just stared at Stevie. He may not have even known it but he hit on exactly what God would do to save his children.
“Not only is that what God would do Stevie,” said Kimberly, “that’s what he did do.”
“What do you mean? I was just playing the game.” The little boy wondered.
“She means that is what God did, when he came down as Jesus. He gave up His throne and all of His powers and His entire kingship to become a poor human baby. Then he grew up here and became a teacher to teach us about Heaven. And then he went through everything we go through so we know he understands it all. And then he let people kill him so we could be his family and then he rose again to take us to heaven.” Kimberly continued.
“Wow, I feel foolish for thinking He would do anything else. I should have known that.” Ginger said softly and humbly.
“Me too.” Susanna added looking down at her ice cream. “Stevie how you knew all that?”
“Well,” Stevie said not knowing he had said anything smart at all. “I do listen in church and Sunday school.”
“Well girls,” April laughed. “Sounds like we need to do less gossiping and flirting and giggling in Sunday school and do some listening.”
“Yeah April.” Susanna agreed. “Then maybe we won’t find ourselves being shown up by a seven year old about how God really thinks and feels about things.
April and Stevie’s mom came and they went home to think about the conversation but Stevie walked out feeling about seven foot tall because he learned something about God and it was right.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. [John 3:16-18]

PSALM 100
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

You changed my world I don't want to go somewhere Repeat Chorus Without Your touch Repeat Chorus
I Don't Want To Go
When You came to me
You drove a passion
In my soul down deep
Lord, to follow You in everything
If I know that You're not there
'Cause I know that me without You is a lie
And I don't want to walk that road
Be a million miles from home
'Cause my heart needs to be where You are
So I don't want to go
So come whatever
I'll stick with You
I'll walk, You'll lead me
Call me crazy or a fool
For forever I promise you that...
Without Your love
Filling me like an ocean
For Your grace is enough
Enough for me
To never want to go somewhere
If I know that You're not there

A little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it was "too crowded." "I can't go to Sunday School," she sobbed to the pastor as he walked by. Seeing her shabby, unkempt appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found a place for her in the Sunday school class. The child was so happy that they found room for her, and she went to bed that night thinking of the children who have no place to worship Jesus. Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of the poor tenement buildings. Her parents called for the kindhearted pastor who had befriended their daughter to handle the final arrangements. As her poor little body was being moved, a crumpled red purse was found which seemed to have been rummaged from some trash dump. Inside was found 57 cents and a note, scribbled in childish handwriting, which read: "This is to help build the little church bigger so more children can go to Sunday School." For two years she had saved for this offering of love. When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knew instantly what he would do. Carrying this note and the cracked, red pocketbook to the pulpit, he told the story of her unselfish love and devotion. He challenged his deacons to get busy and raise enough money for the larger building. But the story does not end there.... A newspaper learned of the story and published it. It was read by a wealthy realtor who offered them a parcel of land worth many thousands. When told that the church could not pay so much, he offered to sell it to the little church for 57 cents. Church members made large donations. Checks came from far and wide. Within five years the little girl's gift had increased to $250,000.00- -a huge sum for that time (near the turn of the century). Her unselfish love had paid large dividends. When you are in the city of Philadelphia , look up Temple Baptist Church , with a seating capacity of 3,300. And be sure to visit Temple University, where thousands of students are educated. Have a look, too, at the Good Samaritan Hospital and at a Sunday School building which houses hundreds of beautiful children, built so that no child in the area will ever need to be left outside during Sunday school time. In one of the rooms of this building may be seen the picture of the sweet face of the little girl whose 57 cents, so sacrificially saved, made such remarkable history. Alongside of it is a portrait of her kind pastor, Dr. Russell H. Conwell, author of the book, "Acres of Diamonds". This is a true story, which goes to show WHAT GOD CAN DO WITH 57 CENTS.The Power of Faith - What God can do with 57 cents
